It’s the BIG ones….

Charlie Bear here.

Fourtth of July

I don’t know about you, but the BIG ones bother me a little bit. Not the small ones that fizzle and fade, but the BOOM, BOOM rocket kind. I usually jump onto Dad Peep’s lap or Mom Peep strokes my head and quivering body and says, “It’s okay, Charlie Bear. They’ll be over soon.” I like that.

Please help my furry brothers and sisters to get through it too.

And thanks!

Wiggles to you,
Charlie Bear

CB & Jean, You can have the beauty without the sound; do like I did; I sat in my peeps lap and she stroked and rubbed me while we both watched it on TV. How to rid the sound? Mute it!!. Mom did not mute ours but turned it down some. I was ok as long as I was in her lap, the sound did not bother me. We did not go anyplace for today, one of peep mom’s daughter came over and we had supper together.. If you think that is a good idea “how to have the beauty without the sound”; then tell your peeps to pass the word along. Have a good week-end…

    Dear Charlie Bear,

It’s the one thing I can’t handle. As soon as they start going off I run around the house barking. I don’t mean to, but I get Kenzie stirred up, too. She’s a good buddy and although I don’t think it bothers her like it does me, she runs right along behind me when I start. Poor little Abby, my mom’s smallest cat, gets a double dose between the fireworks and me acting all crazy. She runs and hides under the toilet tank and won’t come out for hours, no matter how much mom tries to calm her down. If mom can catch me early on before I’m in too much of a state, she will have me sit between her knees and she holds me and strokes me. That helps me more than anything. I love to be petted. Hope you have a happy and safe 4th of July, CB.

    Your pal,
    Jake

      Jake,
I know what you mean! I’m thankful when Mom and Dad pet me too.

Our poor Buffy used to try to burrow between the mattress and box springs during fireworks–thunder, too. We’d try to comfort him but he needed to be “buried” so we’d leave him and talk to him until it was over. Tried music but that didn’t work, either. Glad Charlie Bear stays with you for comfort. To bad we can’t have the beauty without the sound!

      Jean,
You raise a great point….beauty without the sound. Let’s tell those fireworks people to try that!

      Meredith,
I feel for Nick. I hope they pass quickly this year for all of us.
