Drawing for Dog Stockings

November 19, 2010 at 9:57 am 25 comments

Hello to all of you terrific readers and subscribers to this dog blog! Charlie Bear, Rex, and I appreciate you sooooo much that we want to draw three names for a special giveaway.

Three goodie stockings filled with dog treats picked out by Charlie Bear are waiting to go to good homes. To win just make comments between now and December 11th right on the blog to any of the posts. For every comment you make you’ll receive another chance in the drawing. Charlie will keep track, and I’ll double check him. We’ll notify the winners and send out the gifts so they arrive before Christmas.

Charlie Bear wants to know — do you like “Something to Chew On”? What about the various posts about dogs and the book reviews/comments? Let us know what you think by making this your first comment…it’ll count toward the drawing.

Speaking of comments, did you know that we always respond to any comment you make? You can see those replies by checking the box that says “notify me of follow-up comments via email” or check back on the blog site to see them later.

We want to wish you a fantastic holiday season and because it flies by so fast, we’re starting right now! Happy Thanksgiving next week, and Merry Christmas next month. We hope you are one of the winners of a fabulous Christmas stocking for your furry pet.

Billy just corrected me, he is always doing that. Charlie looks like a Bearded Collie. Don’t you just hate it when your dog is right!

Billy, a Bearded Collie is audaciously gorgeous! (Bet you didn’t know I had such big words in my doggie vocabulary.) But I’m not as beautiful as all that. I’m scruffy and curly and have much shorter fur. But it doesn’t matter, I’m still cute. Thanks for looking it up for me. Keep the comments coming…more chances for you in the doggie stocking drawing!

Webster is a rescue Shih Tzu. He is so sweet, and he was almost put to sleep because he’d been attacked by a larger dog and injured badly. Either he found or someone dropped him off at the ER for a local hospital where he was taken to the pound. Rescue got there just before he was eithanized. He’s been such a great dog, and we are lucky to have him. I like rescuing animals because you save their lives. All our rescues have been great pets.
Hugs to you and your guys.

Caroline, Webster is a Shih Tzu? I think I am too. Not sure. I seem to be a mix of some sort. Curly fur, knotted tail. Glad to hear someone rescued him at the 11th hour. I adore my rescuer. She was an angel. Thanks for commenting, and keep it up because more comments mean more chances in the drawing for the dog stockings!

I have enjoyed your posts about Charlie. We too have a rescue dog. I think I might write a book about him. He is so special…the best dog I have ever had, and I have had dogs my whole long life! Nick’s current favorite toy is a fox with a squeeker in his tail and nose, and no stuffing. I can say, “Get fox,” and he runs to find it so we can have a time to play. xo to Charlie.

      Hi Meredith,
Charlie Bear here…so you have a rescue dog like me? I think that kind is the best. I don’t have a fox with a squeeker in his tail and nose, but I do have a lion, and a frog. Both without stuffing too. I hope your doggie gets everything he wants for Christmas. Keep commenting, so you can have more chances in the drawing for one of those stockings I filled with treats.
      Woof to you.

Hi Charlie Bear! My name is Lucy. *Wag, wag* I am the miniature golden doodle of my owners, Alan & Patty. The person who watches me the most during the week is Yvonne. I come in with my master in the morning to his work and then momma picks me up on the way home.
Yvonne said you had goodies in a stocking for me if I signed up, so I am signing up in hopes to win! *Roof, roof!!* I could really use a new chew toy, since I accidentally tore all of mine up. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

    Talk to you soon,
    Lucy

      Dear Lucy,
Charlie Bear here….wagging at you too! Mini Golden Doodles are right around my size! Sounds like you’ve got a great life. Me too, but don’t tell my peeps, I’m still working them over.

Tell your peep to keep commenting for you because the more times you comment, the more chances you get in the drawing, and maybe this time you won’t “accidentally” tear up the chew toy (but I know how that happens…we just get carried away!). Woof, woof!

What a cute and clever idea. And yes, Crosby would love to be in the drawing and perhaps win a goodie stocking. It’s her first Christmas with us and we suspect with any family so this will be a special treat for her. Thanks for the chance. Can’t wait to meet you tomorrow, Charlie Bear, and see big brother Rex!

Crosby, Charlie Bear here. I saw your picture on the blog. You’re quite a handsome dude, though I happen to think I’m the cutest of all, but you’re right up there with that pretty fur. Mine is scruffy and squiggly. Curly like a girlie poodle. Come to think of it, I really don’t know what breeds I am, did you ever find out?

Well, the DNA said I’m part American Staffordshire Terrier, part Golden Retriever, and a little Russell Terrier but my nana and papa say they can’t see terrier anywhere in me and want another test with a different company. My folks say it doesn’t matter, I’m just a Crosby and a mix and it doesn’t matter what! How about you?

I’m not sure what I am. They call me Shih Tzu and Terrior, but I think I’m more than that! Glad to hear, Crosby, that you know what you are, but that your nana and papa don’t care either way. We’re all a mix of all kinds of things, don’t you think? Best to just accept ourselves as we are. Have a great Thanksgiving, Charlie Bear

You are the best, Charlie Bear! Sadie and Shadow came to us from the west (that’s where the road runs past our place). Don’t know why they picked us, but they did. They wanted Mr. here, too, but since Mr. Wiggles and Shadow were both wanting to be parents, and we were not running a maternity ward, we sent Mr. Wiggles to good friends of ours, but not before the two of them decided that life was good together. After that we asked them to take the sign down on the highway that said “Come to Barkman Farms – you’ll be loved!”

Dear Sadie and Shadow — how awesome is it that you got a good home? Nice when peeps take us in, huh? Love that open invitation – “Come to Barkman Farms – you’ll be loved.” Tell your peep to keep commenting for you so you can have more chances to win a doggie stocking. Woof from Charlie Bear

How come Canada’s Thanksgiving is already over? I’m still looking forward to a little turkey & gravy in my kibble next Thursday. We have some lights popping up on trees in the neighborhood. Makes peeing on them extra special.
      Hugs back at you,

Well—It’s RARE to get a good dogs opinion these days! I depend on Charlies advice. Remember, we’ve got three adopted dog-children. Thanks, Charlie! Keep it up!

Sherri, kudos to you for adopting three dog-children. I consider myself a work in progress toddler at this point in my liife. Just wish my peeps would understand that those temper tantrums I throw aren’t really on purpose! I think they get it. It’s just that they’re SOOO old they’ve forgotten what dog-children are like at this age! Have a great holiday next week, and eat a turkey leg for me. I’m sure I won’t get a whole one.

You have a great Christmas too and tell Lucky that the more times you comment for her, the more chances she has in the drawing, so keep those gushing love comments coming!
