Charlie Here

I came to live here in 2010 when I was just over a year old. I’m almost four now, and Mom thinks I know it all. Shhhh…she’s right…I do, and I have a lot to say. You can tell by my blog posts.

I’m still a feisty critter (can you tell?). And my Peeps continue to call me spunky and cocky, and other names like bullheaded and stubborn. It’s true–I’m all of those things (and more).

I helped Mom Peep write our book: Charlie Bear: What a Headstrong Rescue Dog Taught Me about Life, Love, and Second Chances. She told her side of the story, but I got to interject a few tidbits of my own to make it extra interesting. It’s out now and available on Amazon and the publisher’s website and even Barnes & Noble.

Have a chewy day!

Woofs & Wiggles to you,
Charlie Bear

I told Mom to stick the links here so it’s super easy if you want to buy a copy of the book. She didn’t want to, but I made her.

Just finished reading y’all’s book tonight, and made me realize how much i miss my fur family. The silliness of Sgt Freckles(storytime), the prissiness of Isabelle Blu, Buddy and Ranger and then my fancy felines-Macey Mae, Cleo Leo(storytime),Victoria Secret(rescue story!). Actually all my babies were rescue animals except for Ranger who came with my stepkids… i had never heard of the Rainbow bridge til i read your story Charlie, but now i feel better knowing that all of my fur family is there. Its been over 5 years since the last one-Macey crossed over thr bridge, and i still miss them. Unfortunately where i live, no pets are allowed but thanks to my day job at the local VA hospital, i get to see all kinds of dogs who help our Veterans. But i also know that our Veterans help these dogs out too, giving them a purpose and love. I think it would be awesome if someone could tell their stories,..
Thank you BJ and Charlie Bear for sharing your story, the humor and the tears. And I will be sharing your tale with friends and family..keep writing and wiggling with joy.

      Dear Therese,
Thank you so much for writing! It makes my heart smile and sing when I hear how the CHARLIE BEAR book touched you. And I’m so happy you heard about The Rainbow Bridge…a very special place indeed for us animal lovers and our beloved pets.
Thank you for opening your heart to our furry loved ones.

        Therese,
One last thing — if you would be so kind as to go to our Amazon page and write a review on the CHARLIE BEAR book we would be so appreciative.
        Thank you,

    Hi Charlie Bear,
I just got done reading your book. I loved it!!! Tell Mom peep it was awesome!!! I didn’t want the story to end. I am going to go buy some more to share with friends for Christmas gifts. I wish I could see you in person, but we live in New York state.
I like walking our dog who is part Husky/ Shepherd mix when I can. She has calmed down a little, but still spins and chases her tail and growls when we let her outside and when the alarm clock rings. she is 10 years old now. Do hope you write more about you soon.
Take care and have a nice Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up soon!!!

      Kathy,

Charlie Bear here with a THANK YOU from Mom Peep. We are both very happy that you loved the book and that you will be giving it as gifts. Your Husky/Shepherd mix has a loving home. Anyone who can put up with our type of shenanigans is a blessing to us indeed!

Mom Peep says to ask if you would be so kind as to write a review of the book on Amazon.com. She says that helps so much when people do that. And she’s putting in the link below and hopes it works.

      Woofs and wiggles to you,
      Charlie Bear

Six furry friends all in the same house! Awesomeness to the max. And all rescued, like me. No better place than a home with Peeps who love you, right?

BJ – I wrote this poem and when looking for the right picture to use (to read at our writing group) I found Charlie Bear . . . Is it okay to use the picture? Please email me as I do not want to use Charlie Bear’s picture if you wish for me not to–and, would you mind if it was published with the poem? and, if so, what would you like me to say for credits? thank you, Carla Phelps Wert

    IF I WERE THE PRESIDENT

(the picture of Charlie Bear did not paste on – it is one of him with the flag – so cute !!!!)

    “Charlie Bear”

    If I were the President
I know just what I’d do
I’d tell all my loyal voters
Only things I KNOW are true

I don’t know much of taxes
Or things on which to swear
But I’d soon enact a law
    Where ALL are treated fair

If anyone should ask if I’m a Democrat
    Or think I prefer Republican
    I’d tell them very quickly
    I only vote “AMERICAN”

I’d fly our flag with honor
And try not to enter fear
    In other people’s problems
    Whether far or whether near

In school our students would stand proud
    And salute our liberty
Their pride would show the world
    That America stands free

I’d always do what’s fair and best
For rich, for poor, for YOU
    To be proud and patriotic
    Our country must stay TRUE

So if I were the President
    I’d ask for your support
And I’d see that my opponents
    Were of the proper sort

Guess i’ve been commenting on the wrong page for i’ve been “Replying” to the posts instead of submitting one of my own, but gee; we are all entitled to a few ‘goof ups’ once in awhile, aren’t we?
Ask your “Peep Mom” to put my pix. up where they are supposed to go if she can for mine does not know how, but she is willing to learn if any of ‘Your Peep Friends’ care to tell her how. By the way they told my Peep mom at the shelter that i am a mix of ‘Siiztu & Terrior’ but one told her that i was a ‘Pedigreed’ but you know what? I really could care less as long as i hav e a good & comfortable place to stay and plenty of good food to eat, and when i first came to my P.H. [Permanent Home] to live i thought that pure ole dry dog food was as good as it got for that is the only thing i would eat but my favorite peep mom(i have 2) kept offering me other things til now i eat most anything but my favorite is meat,(esp. pork & Chicken,) a few veggies & my really favorite thing is ‘Vanilla Ice Cream’; i really try to do some favorite things for her, such as sit, shake hands & try to say “Thank You”, i do this by barking and will say it a lot for don’t stop til she finally gives it to me. Well iv’e said enough for this time; will see you’ll on ‘The flip side.’

      Hey Beaugie,
You can reply anywhere. I see all of them on all the different pages, so feel free. I’ll tell my female peep to send your fav peep mom your picture (it’s really cute) and maybe we can post it on the site sometime. Watch for that in the coming months.
I eat dry food too. My peep says she wants to keep my figure fit and trim, ha ha. Doesn’t bother me ’cause I’d rather be fit and trim than not able to do my Indy runs.
You know how to do the shake hands thing? I do a really mean “down” and “stay” pretty good too.
Catch you on the woof side,

Hey Charlie Bear, Scooter here. I’m the little white fuzzball–ahem, handsome dude–your peep saw and told my peep what a cutie I am. I try to stay humble about it all. Anyway, you & I both have a sad story with a happy ending & caring peeps along the way, thankfully. Today I’ll hear back from my doc about lab results for a growth, my peeps are giving me antibiotics and prayers. Love your latest pic. Keep writing, you have such a gift. Woof, Scooter

Good luck with your lab results. I’ll be praying for a good outcome.

You’re adorable, Charlie Bear. Maybe someday you can meet Crosby at the dog park at the beach. She’s a unique mix, too. The best kind of dogs! Keep up the good work at telling your story–it may help you settle in as you work with your peep.
