How do you decide?

Charlie Bear 1

Charlie Bear here. Decisions, decisions. There are all kinds of them each and every day. Like should I eat first or go outside and play? Should I jump up onto Mom Peep’s lap or go where I always go, right on top of Dad Peep? Should I pick one special toy I really like or try a new one?

Do you have that problem? Do you have so many things to choose from that it is hard to decide?

Mom Peep says life is full of choices. She has to choose what to write about, how to write it (nonfiction or fiction), where to submit her work, whether to take a chance on a new market, whether to invest her writing time in a full-length book idea or continue to write short stories that sell, how to juggle work with writing (she only works part-time, but it takes a hunk out of her day), and how to keep all her balls in the air.

Prioritizing is her key ingredient to a life with less stress. Every week, and then every day of that week, she takes her “to-do” list and writes down which projects need to be worked on first. Like when a deadline approached for submission of a Guideposts story, she worked on it nonstop for three days. Everything else took a backseat.

When that project was submitted, she turned her attention to the next priority on the list. And so on and so on.

How do you do it? How do you choose from all the goodies on your plate that God has heaped upon you? Do you find it overwhelming sometimes? I look at my toys spread out before me and wonder which one to put in my mouth that day, drag around the living room, and toss up in the air to catch and repeat. They don’t all get the same attention. I have to admit I like the green banana with the pink smiley face, the green turtle with the bulging eyes, and the little brown squirrel with the chewed off ear the best.

I bet you have favorite projects too. How do you prioritize or juggle your goodies? We’re all ears.

Wiggles and wags,
Charlie Bear

Guess I have to have a to do list to get anything done anymore but it’s good to see the list dwindle as I actually check of things done! I like quiet toys, too, Charlie, but I bet Mom & Pop Peep love to watch you with a noisy one! Thanks for the good reminder about prioritizing. Truly helps. Enjoy life!

Once in a while I do the “crazy” thing where I run around and around with a toy in my mouth and race back and forth and up and down off the sofa. They laugh, which makes me happy!

I feel for you with the university exams. That’s a lot of pressure. But it sounds like you are doing GREAT by planning out study and also leisure time. Good for you!

Thank you, BJ. You always have such wonderful, practical ideas. I appreciate your wisdom. Let’s see – I’m a list maker. I find peace in the list. Then I try to work through it the best that I can with dates in mind. I do need to learn to set an order to things. Mostly I just let things float around. Def not the most effective way! Hugs to you and Charlie!

Mom Peep does lists too. Every day almost, or at least once the list is so scribbled on and marked through that it is almost unreadable, then she makes a new one.

Good points, for sure, CB. And sometimes when I make a decision, I’m not sure it’s the right one. I guess that’s where our faith comes in–even if we make the wrong choice, God will still be with us.

Giant hug from Clyde–who’s asleep behind my chair.

Does Clyde snore? I don’t. I’m too little I think, yet some small dogs do let out a heck of a racket.
Yup, faith is what keeps Mom Peep grounded too. Her word this year (as you know) is courage. And she has to have big time faith when she steps out with courage.
      Woofs to you,

I do the same as you, CB except you did not say anything about that chore (lol) of barking, my peeps say that they think I just love to bark non stop; I guess so for at times I wake up at night and bark at some unseen thing.. I play with my toys a lot also but mine are getting pretty straggled; with ears, nose, hands and anything attached to them that I can chew on trying to get to that squeaky thing inside are almost gone. There will always be oodles of things to do CB but for now think i’ll take a nap!! Tell your peeps not to work too hard that Rome was not built in a day!!…

Big dog Rex loved the squeaky things inside toys. Me, I don’t care so much. Must be because I don’t mouth them as much as he did so they don’t make the sound that comes from that squeaky thing. I’ll tell Mom Peep not to work too hard. Thanks!
