Do You Ever Hesitate?

Charlie Bear here.

Mom Peep came home from work and she told me this:

She pulled her car to the edge of the parking lot, ready to cross the street to turn left.

She looked left, then right, for a break in traffic. All of a sudden there was one, but…

she hesitated.

She could have pulled out, crossed to the center of the street and even turned left with enough time before the cars on either side would have reached her. But…

she didn’t.

Something stopped her. Hesitation. She looked left again, traffic was approaching at a fast clip. She looked right, a whole throng of cars took off from a stop light down the block. No opportunity now. She pressed her foot harder on the brake and didn’t move across to the center divider.

And then she thanked God.

In the middle of the road was a young man, thin, dressed in clothes that matched the dusky night that was falling, on a bicycle that was black and gray. He pedaled from the center divider of the street, right where her car would have been just moments before if she had pulled out. She never would have seen him. She would have hit him, right there outside the parking lot of where she works.

But God had her back. He gave her the grace of hesitation.

Has something like this ever happened to you?

Mom is super grateful for God’s grace, her guardian angels (she likes to think they’re her Mom and Dad), and even the big dog Rex who lives over The Rainbow Bridge and who probably barked a warning in her head that she didn’t even hear but responded to.

Thank God for grace, huh?

Yes, Charlie Bear, that has happened to me to, but not the same thing. God watches over us in mysterious ways at times. Glad he watched over your mom peep.

Charlie Bear, what beautiful words. The Grace of Hesitation. Yes, yes, yes, God’s given me this gift a few times. Sometimes it’s just to keep quiet. Thank you. Such a wonderful reminder that sometimes we’re supposed to WAIT.

Mom came home so humbled at God’s love for her. For keeping her safe. For protecting her. I try to do that from here, but I can’t help her out there, you know?
      Wiggles to you,

Oh, it was so profound! And I’m so thankful.
