To Re-Gift or…

Charlie Bear here. I see signs of Christmas coming. Bright, colored lights, a sparkly tree, stockings hung by the chimney with care…oh, okay, I’ll stop there.

I do think Christmas is a joyous time, don’t you? Lots of munchy tidbits when family and friends drop things unexpectedly, and I’m always there, waiting. Yum!

But there’s a huge question hanging in the air: to re-gift or not to re-gift? Do you know what I mean?

wrapped boxes

You get a bag of doggie treats that you already have three of, or a toy turtle that you can’t use because you love the one you have so much and it would be, well, just wrong to love another. Or, say, you get something totally out of character. Like for me, an 18 pound wonder dog, to receive a two-foot long rawhide chew bone that I can’t even get my mouth around one corner–well, that would be just silly.

Ever get gifts out of character for you? I say it’s perfectly fine to re-gift, as long as you don’t chew on it first or rub your fur all over it and make it smelly. A new home would give the gift someplace to go instead of into the basement or attic (we have neither here in California…oh, ok, we do have an attic but you wouldn’t want to go up there).

Anyway, how do you feel about re-gifting? Tell, please, what have you redistributed to a new home?

Wiggles and woofs,
Charlie Bear

    Charlie Bear!!

Sure it is, but any of mine never get a chance to be re-gifted for I take them one by one and bite, chew, toss and shake them to pieces until they are no longer fit to be toted around by anything. I have one or two that I have not been able to utterly destroy yet and that is all so maybe I will get some new ones for Christmas and if I get some alike I would give them to you. Let you in on a little secret, but don’t tell anyone for she may not get me any more new toys for a long time; Ready?? My peep mom re-gifts some of her things sometimes too!! You three(Peeps Mom, Pops & you) have a safe and well Holiday Season.

      Beaugie,
I love your secret because it makes my own Mom Peep feel better. She doesn’t like things to go to waste. Why not re-gift?

Re-gifting…yes, I’ve done it a few times myself, Charlie Bear. Clyde says any toy you’d like to re-gift to him, he’d love it!

BTW, he quickly destroyed the stuffed bear from Petsmart. Right now, if you donate $5 to homeless pets at Petsmart, you get a really cute stuffed animal. He did exactly what Rex used to do–sort of like major surgery. 🙂 Removed the squeaky thing, took the stuffing out, and carried around the soft covering. 🙂

      Julie,

Clyde…you are funny. I’ll keep you in mind when I get a big bone. lol

Why did you do what Rex used to do and pull all the stuffing out and the squeaky part then walk around with the soft covering (Mom Peep used to call it the skin)? I don’t know about you big dogs. Me…I like to keep the whole thing together. You hardly even see teeth marks on mine.

    Charlie Bear,

I think re-gifting is a fine idea. Especially if you send that two foot rawhide bone to me! I’ll find some way of sinking my teeth into it.

    Happy Holidays!

    Your pal,
    Jake
