Can Magic Happen Twice?

September 26, 2013 at 9:29 am 10 comments

Charlie Bear here, and guess what? Magic can happen twice, in fact even three, four, five, six, and seven times!

I’m talking about family reunion magic, the kind that makes Mom Peep grin this silly, wide, happy-eyed smile.

Family Fun Dells Aug 2013 (204)

Mom Peep has been going to Wisconsin to be with her family for years now. It started out as a gift to her own Mom, but now my Mom Peep is the oldest one of the bunch (is that called a Family Matriarch or something?), anyway, she LOVES what they do. They rent a cabin at one of the Wisconsin Dells water parks for a long weekend and splash and tube and slide at the myriad of places to enjoy there.

They make family style meals together, and they did their traditional cookies.

Everyone sleeps under the same roof. They wake up together, well, one at a time or so, and tromp sleepy-eyed with mugs of java to the outside plastic tables to share a morning coffee clutch of sorts. Well, that’s what I call it. I could be wrong.

Anyway, here’s a family pic from the reunion last month:

Did I give Mom extra licks and kisses when she returned? Yup. And she snuggled me tight. Did I miss her? Yup, but she needed to go there to be with those she loved.

What do you do for yourself when it comes to family time and togetherness and is it worth it?

Wiggles and Woofs,
Charlie Bear

I love it, B.J.! And I love being a virtual part of your family reunions. Even from the outside peeking in the windows, I feel the love and joy swelling up in the room. Blessings to you all!

      Kay,
Thank you for blessings bestowed upon Mom Peep. She especially appreciated all of your prayers this year. Woofs to you and more than a bunch of wiggles and licks on your chin for all you do to help her.

Charlie Bear; Is it worth it? Yes, Yes & more yeses. We do not get together as much as we would like to since our families from Fl., Ga, N.C., Ohio & IN. so it is difficult to get us all together anymore, but you better believe we Ga. & FL. ones get together all that we can and that is quiet a few of us. There will be around 15-18 of us tomorrow but just for a short while. Time enough for me to have some fun with some cousins,(not the furry kind but people) I can lick and kiss them and maybe if I can contain myself mom peeps will not shut me up for all my bouncing around having fun. Take care of yourself & the peeps, Charlie Bear.

    Woofs & Licky Te Licks,
    Beaugie.

      Beaugie,
How wonderful that you all get together as much as you can. So many (15-18) coming together for fun and laughter is precious indeed. Enjoy each moment.

Ohhh, Charlie Bear, I love seeing these family pictures! I can tell your Mom Peep is having such a good time. And sounds like you made out all right while she was gone.

She’s such an inspiration. Hmmmm. Maybe I should arrange for my family to try her idea!

      Julie,
I did make out all right. Dad Peep loves me and cuddles me!
Didn’t you do something like a house for the family where you were all together? With coloring books and grape drinks? Mom loves that idea and is inspired by YOU!

Charlie Bear, you should have held out for a bone or new toys. I guess I’m a bad influence. 🙂

    Great pics, Charlie Bear,

My Mom loves her family reunions, too. And they have a Matriarch as well! It is my mom’s big sister. They call my mom the MIT. She said it stands for Matriarch-In-Training! lol! They all go to her niece’s 100 acre farm in Arkansas. One time it was for Thanksgiving and they went on hayrides and had bonfires. At night the niece’s hubby would play his guitar and they sang gospel and folk songs. One afternoon they all traced their hands on construction paper, cut the tracing out and then colored them to look like turkeys! Everyone wrote their name on their turkey and they used them for placecards on the table. Mom’s nephew brought his turkey smoker and she said the turkey was delish! I wish I could have shared some of that turkey. Another time they got together in the spring and all the ladies went to Hot Springs and went to a bath house where they got to take hot baths in the mineral water and then get massages. I know I love it when mom rubs my back so I can just guess how good those massages felt. They also went to the diamond mines! Mom said she didn’t even care if she didn’t find a big diamond. She still had a great time with her family.

And as for your last question, “was it worth it?” My mom says “Absolutely! There is nothing better than being surrounded by people you love and who love you in return.”

    Your pal,
    Jake

      Jake,
Your Mom Peep has it sooooo right. It is “absolutely worth it and there is nothing better than being surrounded by people you love and who love you in return.” Well said, Eudie!
I’m going to tell Mom about the turkey cutouts. That sounds like fun!
      Wiggles and woofs to you,
