For Those Who Like…

Charlie Bear here with something kind of cool. I, myself, love hugs. The kind where you pick me up, snuggle me close, and whisper in my ear.

Then there are those hugs where I jump up on your chest when you are lying in a chair and I crawl up to your neck, place my two paws on either side of your face and give you a hug. Or this kind, where I just sort of “hug” you by being super close.

A POEM FOR THOSE WHO LIKE HUGS

It’s wondrous what a hug can do . . .
A hug can cheer you when you’re blue.
A hug can say “I love you so”
Or “I hate to see you go.”
A hug is “Welcome back again,”
And “Great to see you! Where’ve you been?”
A hug can soothe a small child’s pain,
And bring a rainbow after the rain.
The hug, there’s just no doubt about it –
We scarcely could survive without it!
A hug delights and warms and charms
It must be why God gave us arms.
Hugs are great for fathers and mothers,
Sweet for sisters, swell for brothers;
And chances are your favorite aunts
Love them more than potted plants.
Kittens crave them, puppies (me!) love them;
Heads of state are not above them.
A hug can break the language barrier,
And make travel so much merrier.
No need to fret about your store of ’em;
The more you give, the more there’s of ’em.

Since last week was kind of hard with remembering all those we have lost on Sept. 11 and beyond, I thought you might like to consider doing this a little bit more. Maybe you can find someone to hug today?

Wiggles and Woofs to you,
Charlie Bear

    Charlie Bear, such a lovely poem and think what a hug can do for your self esteem, maybe in another world we can hug all we want and stay with all those we lost and that will be a perfect place to be with all our loved ones who have gone on to that beautiful land of peeps and furry friends. Take Care CB.

      Beaugie,
      Yes! In another world we will all hug and wiggle and sniff all the butts we want with all of our loved ones who have gone on before. I soooo agree!
      You take care too, Beaugie.
      Woofs,
      Charlie Bear

    What a beautiful poem, CB! One day, I’d love to meet you in person…in dog? Your mom looks so comfy on the sofa with you! Wish you two were walking with us first thing tomorrow morning. xo

      Julie,
      I would love to meet you “in dog” too! Even meet up with Clyde the Slyde. Yesterday, Mom walked me in the neighborhood and this big ole Chocolate Lab came walking toward me (he wasn’t on a leash — he was near his garage). I wiggled and wagged my tail and would have had a fun playtime session with him but Mom Peep pulled me off and the choco-lab’s owner called him back. Oh, well. Someday maybe you and Clyde and me and Mom Peep…huh?
      Wiggles to you,
      Charlie Bear

      Marisa,
      Yup, mom inspires me on lots of things! She particularly inspires me to like hugs now (I used to shy away from being touched…can you believe it?). I don’t know what I’d do without them now. They’re the BESTEST!
      Wiggles and Woofs,
