Time…

TAYLOR’S TIPS for a more productive you…(brought to you by B.J. and not Charlie Bear) ; o )

Dear Friend,

Do you ever think about TIME? As in not enough time, too little time, time running out, too much time, time is wasting, time to go, time to listen, time to stop?

time clock

Are we ruled by timepieces? Time to go to bed, time to get up, time to go to the grocery store, time to eat dinner, time to fix lunch. Oh, sure, there are reasons why we must remain on schedules and adhere to certain times (time to take medicine, time to get to work), but are we sometimes too overcome with watching the clock?

One of my favorite authors is Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie and many other wonderful books).  I just finished his recent short novel “The Time Keeper.”

The Time Keeper

Here are a couple of sentences that touched me:

“What you have done to this point cannot be undone. What you do next . . . “

“What?” the man said. “What?”

“It is still unwritten.”

Do you ever wish you had more days? Do you ever wonder if your life will be long enough to accomplish all that you want to do? If you read the book, you’ll find that many people wish they could live forever, they wish their lives would never end.

But . . . another quote from the book:

“There is a reason God limits our days.”

“Why?”

“To  make each one precious.”

Oh, don’t you love that? To make each one precious.

So earlier this month I took time to fly to Wisconsin to visit with my loved ones. While there, I don’t think I looked at my watch or a clock more than once. I let things flow, went with the moment, filled my heart and soul with love and special moments. I had, in a nutshell, the time of my life.

And, oh, sure, I have to great dressed soon and go into the office to work (I love writing in my pajamas). And yes, I have to make dinner tonight because we have to eat. But when there are moments of pure bliss, like sitting out on the patio with a tall cool drink, I’m not going to look at the clock.

And those writing projects I want to accomplish? I’m going to allow them to seep into me and fill up my pores and I just know that in the right time they will come to fruition. Each day is precious. I’m not going to let 24 hours go by that I don’t thank God for the days and the time I still have here on earth. Will you join me?

Hugs and love, and blessings on your work.

A beautiful post and reminds me of the old saying that “Time stands still for no one.” I do not know who said those words, but they are certainly true. Be good to yourself & CB..~~~

      Alice,
How very true…time stands still for no one. We’re all running out of toilet paper (that old saying that the roll only lasts so long…ha ha). Hugs to you!

Oh, BJ, how beautiful. Your sentiments, your writing, your truth-telling. I agree–time goes fast, so much happens even on ‘quiet’ days, we must thank God for every one of them and for each of our loved ones. Thank you for this reminder, Roomie.
