I Solumnly Swear…

Charlie Bear here. I’m hanging my furry-faced head in a mess of embarrassment. Something happened about a month ago. It’s taken me that long to write about it. And even though Mom Peep just returned from her wonderful trip to see her loved ones, she’s allowing me to post instead (she’ll post later this week about her trip). So here goes…my confession…

Ever have a temporary loss of judgment? Ever do something stupid? Ever wish you could take something back?

That’s what happened to me.

Charlie Sheepish

Oh, I know I shouldn’t be so hard on myself. I’m human … oh, wait … I’m not human. I’m a dog. Still…I’m not perfect. I’m bound to make mistakes sometimes. Don’t we all?

What happens to you when you mess up? Do you try to bury the issue or do you fess up? Do you come clean and admit what you did? I had no choice. My error was right there, front and center, popping out like a black pimple on a clown’s white pasty face.

008

I peed on the sofa. Not a big pee spot, but a wet spot to be sure. What was I thinking? I don’t pee in the house. I ALWAYS go outside. I can only give an explanation, but it sounds more like an excuse, and there’s really no excuse I can give for what I did. I can only hope it doesn’t happen again. I vow to never do it again.

But I might. That’s the thing. I’m human … oh, wait … I’m a dog, that’s right. But like a human, I’m bound to make mistakes. I’m trying not to be hard on myself. In fact, Mom Peep cleaned it up and talked to me kindly, “Charlie Bear, you never do this. What happened?” I sheepishly looked at her and had no answer.

Ever have that happen to you? There are just no words? Well, take it from me, swallow your pride, give licks and kisses and apologize the best you can, and then try your darndest to do better next time.

Deal? (And P.S. Don’t beat yourself up about it.)

Accidents happen Charlie Bear, that is why they are called accidents. Some big, messy accidents happen at our house but we both have good people to love us. Aren’t we lucky?

      I Love Dogs and Animals,
I truly agree! Some accidents are big ones and some not so big (like me). I’m a pipsqueak to be sure. Well, maybe not as tiny as a Chihauhua (don’t know if I spelled that right) or even a Yorkie, but I am little. And my Peeps truly do love me! I’m one lucky puppy indeed!

    Charlie Bear,
My kitty, ‘Mia’ RIP, had back nerve damage at a young age & lived to be 17 yrs old. I always found spots that she left and understood she had no control over it.
We love you furbabies unconditionally too so don’t beat yourself up over this. It happens to the best of us. You were probably dreaming about having to go out :-O

      KarpKatZ,
Woweee…..17. I can only hope that I live to be a long-term doggie as your Mia was as a kitty. You’re right! I was dreaming! That’s as good of an explanation as any.

Skip and Bailey here, C.B. We’ve done the peewee trick on our Mom Peep’s carpets too, and she hasn’t been amused at all. Now when she goes away, I (Bailey) have to go into my crate. Bummer. Skip’s learned his lesson, and he’s too old and tired anymore to do anything in the house but eat and sleep. 🙂

      Skip and Bailey,
I know lots of doggies that go into their den when their mom and dad have to leave them at home for a while. I think that’s a good thing, ’cause first of all, doggies like their dens, and second, we don’t usually soil where we sleep, right?
If we work on working it out for what’s best for our age and our “abilities” at holding it for long periods of time, we’ll all be happiest in the house.

Charlie Bear; I do that also as I do not have a “Pet Door”, so sometimes my peeps do not let me out in time but I pee on floor I never peed on the couch or anything but floor. The peeps don’t scold me either, just talk in kind way to let me know that I need to go outside, but heck, its their fault but I like for them to talk to me about it. So CB, don’t beat yourself up, for you know most all humans/dogs make mistakes all the time.

      Beaugie,
Yup, we are all going to make mistakes. Some are really, really big ones, and I feel for the people who are beating themselves up about them. Some are more little, like ours, and we can work on not doing those things again, like using the pet door when we can.

Charlie Bear, I love your attitude. Certainly a lesson for all of us! Your mom peep is just the best, isn’t she. 🙂

Mom Peep is so neat. She didn’t even holler at me when I did it. : o )
