How Did I Do in 2012?

January 17, 2013 at 10:38 am 12 comments

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 10,000 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 17 years to get that many views

Crunchy numbers
In 2012, there were 84 new posts, growing the total archive of this blog to 266 posts. There were 241 pictures uploaded. That’s about 5 pictures per week.

The busiest day of the year was August 11th. The most popular post that day was What’s precious to you?. https://bjtaylorblog.wordpress.com/2012/08/11/whats-precious-to-you/

Sometimes Charlie Bear and I wonder if we’re doing things right. He does most of the “talking” here on the blog and I love giving him a voice. He can often talk about things that are difficult for me and he sometimes gives topics a funny spin.

B.J. Charlie Bear and Book

So, dear blog reader, tell me: What am I doing right? What needs to be changed? What constructive criticism do you have for both me and Charlie Bear? We’d like to hear it. It’s a new year and we’re willing to learn.

Hugs to all from me, B.J.

    BJ & CB;

I do not know of anything to change to make your blogs better, you write from your heart to let us readers know of your joys, sorrows, pains, wishes and on, on and on. CB also does his things and you please him by telling us all about his antics. Your telling reminds me that I came from a family of deaf mutes; several aunts & uncles that could neither talk nor hear, and while growing up in that household(no nursing homes nor assisted living houses)during my childhood, all families looked after their own. They would have to watch each one and try to figure out what they needed or wanted. After so long a time they could figure it out if the one that wanted something could maybe show or point out enough to help them understand. I do not know at what age they finally learned to sign but they did and even I though I did not live in the house for very long did learn a little bit of sign language, enough to carry on a fairly decent conversation with them. Oh we of these days and times have so much to be thankful for and we do not even realize just what all nor how much we do have nor do we take the time to thank him enough for them. So you can write and do it so well until all Beaugie & I ask for is that you keep up the “GOOD WORK” of letting us know about your and his(Roger too) daily happenings and any other things you find to share with all your readers.

Woofs, wiggles & hugs to you all!!

      Dear Alice and Beaugie,
You make our heart sing! You love us and like our work. Thank you so much. Yes, we are grateful for so very many things. Up at the top of the list are good people like you (and good doggies like Beaugie!).
Thank you for writing to express your thoughts. We appreciate it a lot.

First of all, BJ, my prayers are with you and your family. i hope you know how much we love you and yours. i also hope that you find out how much comfort Charlie Bear can be to you at this time. Don’t change anything about your blog, unless you want to blog daily…i could handle that type of change.

      Dear Marianne,
Thank you for the prayers. We appreciate them so very much. Hailey’s mom and dad are having tough days, and there are more ahead, but with prayers and concern from all those (like you) out there thinking about them and praying for them, I just know they’ll be bolstered by faith and hope.
Thank you for the kind words about the blog. We appreciate your suggestion!

My precious friends–B.J. and C.B. Don’t dare change a thing. Just keep on being you. You reach out in love and you are real. That’s what mattered most. You tell us about your struggles and your joys.

You really care about us blog readers–Clyde included. It shows.

    We love you dearly.

      Dear Julie,
We don’t know any other way to be but honest and real. Sometimes it is painful, but mostly it is satisfying. And the part Charlie Bear and I like the most is hearing from you all and becoming more than blog posters and blog readers…becoming friends in this big, wide world we live in. Makes us feel extra close to you no matter how far apart we live.

    BJ and Charlie Bear,

Our household loves you both. One of the things I like best is that you take the time to reply to each individual comment and you make it personal to every one of us. I feel like you have become a friend over the past two years. We love hearing about Charlie and his adventures and my son often asks me if “Jake and Charlie have been chatting lately”. So of course, I have to fill him in on their posts. The only thing I could think of to make anything better is just more, more, more.

Keep up the great work, BJ. And Charlie Bear, Jake says “Hi!”

    Your pal,
    Eudie

      Dear Eudie (and Jake),
We love you both and you are both friends to us. It’s amazing how close people and dogs can get when they share their lives with each other. We all struggle. We all rejoice. We all have moments of sadness and pain. Through it all, if we have others, we are blessed beyond measure.
Thank you for allowing me to count you as a friend.
Hugs from me, Wiggles to Jake from Charlie Bear (woofs)

Hi BJ — Hope you are finding a bit of peace each day in your process of mourning … can’t pretend to know or feel.

You are doing great! I love the doggie dialogue and get to know and Charlie Bear at the same time.

This world of writing is craZy. I wish I had the trick for the trade to get people to my website and to make comments on my blogs. However, I am beginning to realize, IT IS WHAT IT IS! I can spend all my time and give all my energy to try to make it more. I believe it is all about how much you can afford. Such as, I need a publicist! I know marketing is important, but I need someone who believes in my more than I do to get speaking engagements with church organizations. The field is plowed…I’m ready to go, but I need someone to plant the seed.

    Good luck in 2013.

(The Donut Theory by Linda Gillis will be released in March. I have combined my three books into one and added some fun with the theme “donuts.” It is costing me a bunch, but I think it will be a better product!)

      Dear Linda,
Every day is different and I’m learning to surrender (got that fabulous word-of-the-year from wonderful Julie Garmon). I give God all my feelings, all my sadness, all my pain, and He gives me hope.
LOVE the words: Donut Theory. Intriguing. I can’t wait to hear all about it! Keep the faith, and thank you so much for writing.
      Hugs,
      B.J.

I just started reading your blog, Charlie Bear and B.J., and I cannot think of a thing that needs to be changed. You both write from your hearts, and sometimes your honesty brings me to tears because it is so beautiful. I truly look forward to your posts, and share that you are a rescued couple. Charlie, you rescued B.J., and B.J., you rescued Charlie. It’s the same in my household (x3!) and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Bless you both, and I pray every day for your great-granddaughter.

      Chris,
Thank you so much for your kind words. Charlie sure did rescue me….from lots of things. Routine and boredom would be the first two on the list! He’s never boring and never routine. Never know when he’s going to go into one of his spins or make us laugh out loud. Gotta love a little imp like Charlie Bear! Glad you rescued 3. Bless you as well. (and thanks for the prayers…I appreciate them so much).
      Hugs,
      B.J.
