Never too old to be loved…and to give love.

Hi, Charlie Bear here, with a featured rescue dog….ummm…make that two:

Peggy Frezon shares:

Brooks
age: 11
age at adoption: 11
breed: Golden retriever
rescue group: Peppertree Rescue

We decided it was time to add another dog to our family, and wanted to rescue a dog who would otherwise not have an easy time finding a home. Brooks was abandoned and had been in rescue groups for about a year without being adopted. He may be old in years but he’s young at heart. He loves to fetch a tennis ball, and would retrieve all day if we let him. He loves to be patted and when he sits in front of you asking for TLC, we can’t resist!

Kelly
age: 10
adopted at age: 1 year old
breed: Cocker Spaniel-Long Haired Dachshund
rescue group: New York Cockers

We found Kelly on a Petfinder listing and thought she was just the most adorable little girl, with tufts of hair sticking up all over like a bad hair day. We were just empty nesting, and Kelly became a new and happy focus to fill the empty places. She loves to jump up on the back of the chair and curl around my neck like a scarf. When we learned she was a bit overweight she became the inspiration for me to get her healthy and fit–and to lose weight right along with her.

2. Heart to Heart, Hand in Paw (Inspiring Voices 2012)
Heart to Heart, Hand in Paw is a true tale of faith and the healing bonds of animals. Luanne’s story shares how our pets can love, comfort and teach us as we take our own journey through life.

Charlie Bear here. Well now, don’t Brooks and Kelly look like fun dogs? I’d bet we’d romp and play together in a park like best of friends. Only thing is, we live like 2,500 miles apart! Mom Peep and I think it’s great that Peggy and her husband adopted Brooks at age 11. Older dogs need loving too, just like us young whippersnappers, right?

Woofs & Wiggles to you,
Charlie Bear

Hi Charlie Bear! I’ve just started following your (and your Mom Peep’s) blog. I think it’s wonderful Kelly and Brooks got adopted. I’ve had six wonderful adopted four legged friends now (not all at once.) Woof and wiggles to you from my latest friend, Chippy. He’s a daschund/Jack russel mix.

      Hi Chippy and Cappie,
Nice of you to follow us and to comment. And kudos to you, Cappie, for rescuing and adopting. There are SO MANY out there that need fur-ever homes. Blessings on you and your family.

Yes, Charlie Bear that was a very nice thing for Ms. Peggy & her husband to adopt Brooks & Kelly, but with me i could not really tell if they adopted both dogs or just Brooks, could you? but either way it was a nice thing to do. Any age dog can be fun & loving. Take care, Charlie Bear, and much wiggles to you.

      Beaugie,
Yup, they adopted both dogs. Kelly when she was just a year old. Now they adopted Brooks and he’s 11. I heard he just ate some corn cobs and had to have an operation. Golly, that must have hurt. First, corn cobs are not the best thing to eat, and second, any surgery is no fun. I’m hoping he gets better real soon (and stays away from corn cobs).
      Wiggles & woofs to you,
      Charlie Bear
