How could you not let this big boy into your heart?

Hi, Charlie Bear here, with a big bruiser of a dog. This guy’s name is Clyde and he reminds me of big dog Rex both in size and stature. And he has that “look,” you know?

Here’s what his momma Julie has to say about him:

We love the typical Lab personality, and Clyde has it big time. Right now, he’s looking out the window watching my son drive down the driveway, wishing he were with him. We’ve never had a dog with so much personality. So much heart. He just wants to be with us.

Cooper, our almost 15 year-old black Lab before Clyde, was different. Stoic. Driven. Not emotionally needy like Clyde. Faithful, but a loner. Cooper didn’t care if you petted him or not. Clyde will just about sit in your lap for attention.

My husband and son hoped Clyde would be an excellent duck retriever like Cooper, who once swam through ice for a duck. Clyde hasn’t retrieved ducks yet from a frozen pond, but he’s retrieved a dozen or so decoys, and even a dove at eight months old. He seems motivated by pure praise.

I’m just guestimating, but I think he’s 95 pounds. He keeps getting thicker! My oldest daughter lets him jump on the sofa with her—a no-no. Clyde knows he’s not supposed to be up there, but he cheats and backs his rear end up beside us, and halfway sits with us, keeping his front legs on the ground. You can’t help smiling at him. He’s just so goofy and loving.

* * *

Charlie Bear back again. Isn’t he a gorgeous boy? Of course, not as gorgeous as me!  But he is a cool looking dog. I happen to know, from what Julie tells my Mom Peep, that Clyde also has another job–and that’s to help Julie to take walks in the woods, refresh and relax after long writing cycles at her computer, and smile and laugh at the antics of her big, goofy Lab. Huh, same kind of job as me!

    Heart stopped a second when I saw Clyde…yes, much like Rex, and sweet personality. Thanks for sharing, Charlie Bear and Mom Peep.

      Yup, Labs have that true, intense eyes and alert posture look. Rex had it too. Thanks for the comment.
      Woofs & Wiggles to you,

      So I’m going to be a human next time? With fingers and toes and a tongue to talk? Oh, happy days! I’ll finally be able to really say what I want!
      Blessings to you, too, and wiggles & woofs,

    Charlie, his eyes say “Take me home with you…”!

    How about a few more photos of you too? How’s your summer going? Are you getting a vacation like your peeps? How about it, do dogs get vacations with freedoms???

      You want more pictures of me? I have LOTS of pictures of me. Maybe I’ll do a summer montage (is that even a word…what does that mean?). Anyway, I’ll do a collection maybe.
      My summer is good. How is yours? I get a vacation every day when I race out the back door, run around the yard, and then jump up into my Dad’s lap. Mom takes me to the dog park for a vacation, too. Tell us what you do to have fun in the summer?
