“Something to Chew On” Charlie Bear with LAA #13

One of the issues I had at my foster home was guarding my possessions. Food. Toys. Bones. My foster mom used long kitchen tongs to extricate something from my paws. I know my new peeps were told about my possessiveness, but I think the female one forgot.

She held a small, chewy rawhide bone in her hand. One of those bow-shaped ones with the meaty middle. Okay, it’s not really meat in there (who are they fooling?), but it tastes good anyway.

FEMALE PEEP: “Charlie Bear, look what I got for you.”

She put the tasty bone down on the floor. I pounced on it, grabbed it between my teeth, and began to chew.

FEMALE PEEP: “Now let me pick it up, and I’ll give it right back. You need to learn that I’m in charge of your food.”

Oh, oh. She’s not going to try to take it away, is she? That would be SO wrong. But yup, she stuck her hand underneath my nose and tried to grab the bone. So I did what was in my instincts to do. I bit her.

FEMALE PEEP: “Ouch, Charlie, what are you doing?”

Sorry. I did snarl first, and then I growled. Didn’t she get the picture? I didn’t mean to bite her, but that bone was MINE!

FEMALE PEEP: “Well, that wasn’t the smartest thing for me to do. I know better than that. You’re not like Rex the big dog. I can take anything from him, and return it, at any time. But of course, that took a lot of training.”

She looked down. A pin prick of bright red blood at the tip of her pinky finger stood out against the paleness of her hand. I could see that I scared her. Oh, man, what had I done now?

All the posts are there, and these new ones about LAA (Life After Adoption) will be there too. Watch for more of Something to Chew On by me, Charlie Bear, in the weeks ahead.

Thanks for stopping by. We love your comments, so feel free to make some. Woof!

Ok, Charlie Bear; you almost cooked your goose this time and not the eating feathery kind either, You should learn that every time they try to take things from you they are not being mean, but trying to teach you new things, such as sharing, good habits and manners, and maybe if you do that one in a good way you might get another one, and that one ‘For Free’. “That its not nice to try to ‘fool’ your “Peeps” friends”, as they are not “Mother Nature”… You and Rex have a good weekend, Charlie Bear and i’ll see you on the ‘flip side’, tell everyone hello for me..
    Beaugie…
P.S. Tell your ‘Peep Mom’ for me that i went to my groomers on Wed. and she groomed and checked me all over and she left me smelling like a silly girl, and all clean & pretty but she found some not “So Good” stuff too, some ear mites in my right ear, told ‘Peep Mom’ to clean them out with Alcohol; not the drinking kind but “Rubbing Alcohol”; that stuff burns and leaves me acting crazy, i run round & round awhile and rub my ears on the carpet also awhile til the burning stops; she said to ask your “Peep Mom” if she knew of something that wasen’t so bad on my disposition but would kill them crawley mites, and tell her also to be sure to send ‘Peep Mom’ a e-mail and let her know if she knows of something. I don’t like to act like that and its not nice; as i said to you, but heck it burns. Well bye for real this time.. Beaugie..

Beaugie, I’m trying not to cook my own gizzards, but that was a harrowing experience. I’ve learned not to do that to her anymore. She always gives me back my food or bones. So no sweat.
Hey, I don’t know about that ear stuff. Owweee — I feel for you. I’ve only had the ear cleaning stuff and it didn’t burn.
See you on the flip-flop side, Beaugie.
      Woofs,
      Charlie Bear

OOh, Charlie Bear, Take it easy on the peep’s fingers. I would never do that to my lady, but my foster brother Skippy would. You should see how he acts when my lady gives him a certain chewy bone with the meaty stuff inside. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. You don’t mess with big brother when he’s got a bone in his mouth. Nope.
Honey Bunny (P.S. How do you like my pictures I’m putting on Facebook?)

      Honey Bunny,
I haven’t bitten my female peep anymore since that one time. Not that she didn’t taste good, just that it scared her so much. Scared me as well to know I hurt her. I didn’t mean to do that. I bet Skippy doesn’t mean to do it either.
My peep LOVES the pictures your lady is putting on Facebook! Nice!
      Enjoy the weekend,
      Woofs, Charlie Bear

Oh Charlie, when are you going to learn how good you have it? I hope you are making it up to the female peep. Be a good boy!

      Dear Foster Mom Sara,
I’m trying hard to be good. Really I am. But instincts overwhelm me sometimes. I’ll make it up to female peep, I promise.
      Wiggles and woofs,
      Charlie Bear
