The Seasons of Our Life

TAYLOR’S TIPS for a more productive you…

Dear Friend,

Do you ever wonder where the time has gone? Do you look back and think about how fast a year has spun out before your eyes? It got me thinking about the Seasons of My Life:

High School / Graduation / Moving Out / Getting Married / Having Babies / Working / Grandchildren / Retirement

Okay, maybe I haven’t reached all of those Seasons yet, but many of them. How about you?

Then I wondered if my writing life also had seasons, and I decided it did. Here they are:

Learn Craft / Take Classes / Read Books on Writing / Ideas

 (long nights and blurry eyes)

Submissions / Nonacceptances / Trying Again / Keeping the Faith

 (the pacifier says it all)

Publication Success with Articles & Short Stories  /
Build Platform by Helping Others / Write a Book

 (this puppy has ENTHUSIASM)

Novel or Nonfiction Book Not Selling / Hard to Find Agent / Difficult to Break In

(get support from others to “keep your chin up”)

Book Sells / Advance Forthcoming / Royalties Down the Road

(give me five!)

I haven’t reached all of those Seasons yet, but I’m working on it! And I’m looking forward to the future.

What Season are YOU in?

Happy writing and blessings on your work.

I’m all backwards. I had no plan to write, started writing, friends encouraged, self published, found agent through friend, waiting to hear what the publishers will say and now reading books on plot and editing (the toughest part). I’ve definitely gotten the writer’s bug but though the back door. I am praying for His plan.

      Karen,
I have met so many wonderful people at recent writers conferences that are exactly where you are. Doesn’t matter where we start, we’re all on this journey together. One step at a time.
      Best wishes,
      B.J.

    Alice,
Thanks for the comment on the blog post about writing. I use this blog mostly for Charlie Bear and dog-related items, but throw in my Taylor’s Tips Newsletter that is sent out to an email list of writers once a month. Sometimes, the newsletter tips are more life-related than just writing-related, so I hope you get something out of it.
    Have a great day,
    B.J.

BJ, I do not think that i am a writer for i don’t think i can compose a sentence or paragraph well enough to write a blog note let alone a short or long story. But thanks for remembering me and sending a invitation to the conference. Alice; Beaugie’s ‘Peep Mom.’
