Letting Go – Taylor’s Tips Newsletter

TAYLOR’S TIPS for a more productive you…

Dear Friend,

Do you ever have trouble letting go?

Maybe it’s holding too tight to a book project that isn’t working.

Or to a relationship that has run its course.

Maybe it’s a tradition over the holidays that isn’t fitting in anymore.

Or a new family member has come on board from a marriage, or there’s a new child now, or there’s a divorce and a family member is no longer there.

Maybe a very special loved one is almost ready to cross over to heaven and it’s hard to let him or her go.

Letting go of the past gives us freedom to allow new traditions, new family members to join the circle of love, new ideas for a book that could sell, a new relationship that just might turn out to be “the one.” Letting go of the past opens our heart to the future. Don’t get me wrong–there is a time and a place to hold on, to not give up, to do all we can to make things work.

But sometimes, a new direction is a good thing.

“Teach us, Lord, to trust Your hidden hand,
Leading in ways we may not understand.”

By Fred Bauer from the November 15 Daily Guideposts.

Happy writing and blessings on your work.

What’s Happening…

Thank you! A big thank you to everyone who recommended names for my new blog line called “Charlie Bear Here with Something to Chew On” — which is airing roughly twice a week. Charlie Bear, our adopted dog, has quite a history and he enjoys sharing his LBA (Life Before Adoption) and ultimately, LAA (Life After Adoption). What a tale he has to tell. We hope you’ll follow his posts by subscribing. It’s easy, just enter your email address on the blog site and confirm it through an email sent to you. You’ll get new posts right in your inbox. We hope to see you there. www.bjtaylorblog.wordpress.com

Chicken Soup for the Soul has three books with December 31, 2010 deadlines. Get a story (or two or three) written and submitted before Christmas and give yourself a gold star and a pat on the back for sending in your work. Check out these fabulous books in the works:

Mothers and Daughters
Mothers and daughters – they are, at the same time, very similar and also completely unique. Mothers show daughters who they will become. Daughters live out mothers’ dreams. Through birth, childhood, teen years, adulthood, grandchildren, aging, and every step in between, this relationship can be the best, the hardest, and the sweetest. This title will publish in 2012.

Teens
A completely new book on one of our most requested topics – TEENS. The stories in this book, written almost entirely by teens, will be stories that you will want to read again and again. They will serve as your guide on topics such as the daily pressures of life, love, school, friendships, parents and much more. We are looking for stories that will encourage you, inspire you, make you laugh, make you cry and show you that, as tough as things can get, you are not alone.

Young at Heart
So, you’ve crossed that magic age and you are ready to retire or start a second career. But you’re not ready to stop living! You feel energetic and young and there is still so much to see and do and enjoy. We are looking for stories that will share with our readers humorous and fun adventures from those who are actively enjoying their “senior years!” Tell us about your new careers, your volunteer work, your sports and sports cars, your new love interest, your travels, your families and all of those things you always wanted to do that you are finally doing now that you have the time.

Check out the website for additional books in the works. www.chickensoup.com

Obviously you didn’t come to my place. Sorry, Mr. Wiggles took the sign down that said “Come on down to Barkman Farms, they’ll love you”. But even so, if you had found yourself at my house, i’d have loved you, too.
