Charlie Bear Here with “Something to Chew On” #2

“Spin Cycles.” That’s what my new female peep calls my bouts of chasing my tail. I can’t remember when that started, but if you ask my rescuer, she’ll tell you that for her it all began on the playground.

“I teach at a school in South LA. Many dogs wander onto the school grounds. This little guy was drawn to children, so he followed one onto the yard.”

Let me interject. Kids are more my size than those towering adults and they like to play, plus they throw me food sometimes. So I did follow one that morning. But one became a swarm and they had me surrounded. I couldn’t get away, so I started to spin. A teacher came running out of her classroom when she heard the commotion. Then she caught sight of me. I was growling and snapping and spinning around and around. She yelled for some lady named Ryo, who arrived like a beacon from heaven. Really pretty eyes, long dark hair, and a quiet demeanor. An angel I’d say. I’ll let her continue the story.

“I managed to scoop him up. There are so many abandoned dogs in our area and he wasn’t the first one I’d rescued. I couldn’t keep him in the classroom with all of the kids, so I put out an emergency text to my friends. Thank goodness it was a cloudy, overcast day so I knew he’d be fine in my car for a short time. I checked on him at recess, and then a good friend picked him up at lunch and took him to my home.”

Sitting in Ryo’s car for a while I was finally able to relax. No other dogs to fight off, no kids laughing at me or taunting me. I settled into the back seat upholstery and had the first good snooze I’d had in a long time. Then someone came and took me to a house and then that pretty lady came home and talked sweetly to me.

“You poor little guy. Look at you. Nobody has taken care of you, have they?”

She tried to hold me in her arms but I squirmed and squealed. That’s when she discovered the thing that had been causing me incredible pain.

Hey Foster Mom — I miss you! Life’s pretty good here though. You’d be proud of me. I’m doing good. Didn’t tell the peeps yet about the nicknames. Dropping things in on them a bit at a time. You understand–life can be a little overwhelming with me. : )

Spin Cycle. lol. Wish I had have come up with that name; much better than “fits”. A little levity would have helped me deal with those on the really bad days. Still laughing. I don’t know who is the clever one, you or the peeps. Did you tell the peeps that one of your nicknames is “Lil C”?
