A Dog’s Life in Progression

July 28, 2010 at 3:22 pm 4 comments

Yesterday I posted on Facebook a few favorite photos of Rex. First one — the incorrigible puppy who chewed EVERYTHING, including my husband’s reading glasses (three times).

Then I posted the one of Rex as a 10-year-old mellow man.

I want to thank everyone who shared their stories about their own days of puppyhood when things didn’t go smoothly. My heartfelt desire is for every dog to find a forever home. And I’m so happy I stuck by my “man” (Rex). He’s the happiest and, most of the time, mellowest dog ever now.

Here’s a shot of him now on that same lounge chair.

Could that be the same stuffed animal “skin?”

So tell me about the ups and downs in your life with your dog(s).

Your lounge chair pad lasted ten years?!!!

Love your dog. Have had to say goodbye to several over the years (death, not intentional). A daschund, an Irish setter, a Bouvier, a golden retriever, and finally a wonderful pound dog, sort of a short hair, small-boned almost shepherd. We’re “between dogs” until after a move to another state, then I’m sure there will be a new member of the family.

Can you believe it? That lounge chair pad was finally thrown out last year!

It is super hard to say goodbye to our loved ones (furry and non-furry). You’ve had a mixture of dogs too. I’ve had Chihauha, Dachshund, Beagle mix, Shepard mix, Collie mix, Golden Lab, and an assortment of dogs found in my dad’s gas station restrooms that we found homes for. I bet you can’t wait to get another one when you move. What state are you moving to, and from where?

Hi Sue! Little Maggie must be cute as a button! Congrat’s on giving her a good home. That smile of hers must make your heart shine! B.J.

B.J., I have a puppy too. Her name is Maggie and she is a little Bischon. She likes to chew on stuff too, but her greatest attribute is her smile. I’ve known only a few dogs who bear their teeth from ear to ear, but Maggie is one of those happy dogs.
